Tom Hope, Rest In Peace

Honor Flight Rochester (HFR) is saddened by the loss of one of its first and biggest supporters, Tom Hope, but his memory will remain with us forever. Tom, a World War II veteran, flew as a Lone Eagle with the National Honor Flight Network in April 2008 with his son, Vince, as guardian. That experience sparked what would later become Honor Flight Rochester, Inc., which included Vince Hope as a co-founder and past president.

Tom was among the many dignitaries to welcome home HFR’s first Mission in October 2008. Eight years later, HFR was honored to have Tom at the Welcome Home celebration for our milestone 50th mission on September 22, 2016. Tom was an extraordinary person. A great American. A great husband. And a great father of three sons. We will miss Tom Hope, but we know that his spirit will continue flying with us. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

Unfortunately veterans cannot choose what flight they will travel on due to medical and logistic issues associated with the flight process. We also encourage veterans from the Syracuse and Buffalo area's to visit and register with their local Honor Flight hubs before registering with Rochester Honor Flight.
